Christmas in Hawaii is just too crazy and crowded but, the rumor was that, Thanksgiving is a different story. We decided to try for ourselves and almost a year ago booked a week at our favorite place on Maui, Napili Beach. Napili is great because there are no high-rise hotels, it is frequented by families and we love the 1960’s era kitschy, lava-rock covered buildings. Not to mention that the beach is really nice and the little bay is well protected and offers good snorkeling. After the difficulties we encountered in Portland and Seattle in September, we opted to leave Natalie behind where she and Grandma had a party of their own. Noah spent endless hours playing in the sand and a good time was had by all. Hopefully, we’ll post some videos soom. For now, all we have are a few pictures and, as you can tell, we let Noah take some of them. Click here to see the rest of the pictures.
It’s an age-old question: What kind of gift can you get for the person who has everything (especially when you are 5 or 2 years old and all of your assets are illiquid becase they are currently tied up in college savings accounts which are restricted by the government)? Well, you could get out some paper and crayons and make a coupon for hugs or you could record yourself singing “Happy Birthday” (without paying any royalties). Guess which one the Flick kids picked?
Tinkleflick Labs recently commissioned a socio micro-economic experiment designed to answer the following query: What would happen if you put 5-year-olds in charge of a business enterprise. The answer? As you will see from the video recording of our experiment, you get poor working conditions, a mediocre product and (in the long run) little, if any, profit delivered under a cute trade name. We conclude our dissertation with the recommendation that we should put 5-year-olds in charge of all business enterprises as it appears that it would improve upon the working conditions, products and profits (or lack thereof) that we experience at present when we let adults run the show. A picture slideshow is also available here.
For those of you who don’t already know, Tinkleflick HQ has been packed up and is moving north to the Seattle area. We had many great memories of our East Long Beach home but it is time now to move on and we have fallen in love with our new home in Gig Harbor, Washington. We trick or treated in our (soon to be) old neighborhood and had a lot of fun with that. We have to be out of our house in a few days but we don’t close on our house in Washington until the end of the year so we’ll still be around to spend the holidays with our friends and family before shipping everything up north. We’ll send out change of address cards later. Check out the October pictures and stay tuned for developments on the move.
